ABOUT ME

John Bryant, creator of Dad's Gourmet Kitchen

Hi and thank you for checking out Dad's Gourmet Kitchen. My name is John, I am a husband, father, lover of good food, a type one diabetic and a pretty good cook. While I have been diabetic for over 30 years, I do not let that dictate what I eat and cook.

I made the choice a long time ago that life is too short to eat bad food!

I was born and raised in San Francisco Bay Area, specifically the North Bay's Wine Country. I am lucky enough to now live in San Francisco with my wife, son and dog. While the city has no shortage of amazing restaurants and you can eat every meal out, sadly that is too expensive for the majority of people, myself included. Cooking has been my hobby and creative outlet for years. The majority of my recipes are me trying to recreate a meal that I have had out or improve a dish that I feel can be made more gourmet. 

 

Gourmet to me isn't just about using the best ingredients available but using techniques to get the best flavors, textures and presentation from those ingredients. Food is incredibly personal, smells and tastes can transport you back to your childhood or an amazing meal shared with loved ones.
